“The Marriage That Wasn’t About Love”

📖 Sacred Testimony LIII

“The Marriage That Wasn’t About Love”
offered in truth, remorse, and the reclaiming of motherhood

Shortly after Ashley was moved away,
I married again.

Not out of love.
But out of pain.
Out of pride.
Out of a desperate need
to beat him at something—
to not feel like the one left behind.

I thought if I moved fast enough,
I wouldn’t feel the grief.
I wouldn’t feel the loss.
I wouldn’t feel the ache of her room being empty.

But I did.
And then came the moment
that made it all clear.

He told me—
My daughter wasn’t welcome in his home.

And something in me snapped awake.
Something ancient.
Something maternal.
Something fierce.

No.
Not this.
Not her.

I told him I wanted a divorce.
I didn’t look back.

We were only married a few months,
but in that short time,
I learned the cost of choosing out of fear,
out of anger,
out of the need to prove something
instead of protect someone.

And I chose her.

Maybe not perfectly.
Maybe too late to fix everything.

But I chose her.

🌿 And now I see:

Sometimes the shortest unions
teach the longest lessons.

Sometimes a mother’s voice
finally rises
when her child’s name is threatened.

And that was the first step back
toward reclaiming myself,
and remembering what love really means.
