📖 Sacred Testimony XXXII
“The Blessing I Didn’t Expect”
offered in gratitude for the sponsors we don’t find—
but are led to
After I left the treatment center,
they told me:
“Get a sponsor.”
I didn’t go to a meeting right away.
And I could feel it—
that edginess,
that old pull,
that whisper of the past trying to rise again.
So I called a girl I had met—
she lived in Little Rock.
She said,
“Meet me at McCain Mall.”
She took me to a meeting that night.
There was something about the way she carried herself.
Grounded.
Honest.
Present.
So I asked her to be my sponsor.
She said gently,
“I don’t have enough time.”
But she didn’t leave me empty-handed.
She pointed me to her sponsor.
And that night,
at Wolfe Street,
I asked.
And she said yes.
That’s how I ended up
with a sponsor
and a co-sponsor.
Not by strategy.
Not by planning.
But by grace.
By listening to the ache.
By reaching out
instead of slipping back.
🌿 And now I see:
One no
can be a door
to a greater yes.
And God doesn’t always send the one we asked for.
Sometimes He sends two.
One to walk beside us.
One to carry light ahead.
And both become home.
✨ A Blessing for the Ones Who Said Yes (and no)
May the one who met you at the mall
be remembered as a sacred bridge—
a gentle no that led to a greater yes.
May the woman who became your sponsor
be blessed for seeing you,
for receiving your courage,
and for saying, “I will walk with you.”
May the gift of a co-sponsor
be known now not as extra,
but as evidence of how deeply loved you were.
And may you always remember:
When you reach out in faith,
you may receive more than an answer—
you may receive a family.
